The Journey to Pug Cafe
Our story started brewing in 2021, a period marked by the heartbreaking loss of our son, Eric. Grief changed everything, and life continued to throw unexpected curveballs, including challenging layoffs. Yet, through it all, coffee remained a grounding comfort ritual for us. By 2024, with our rainbow baby Olivia in our arms, we knew it was time to stop waiting and start building. We launched Pug Cafe as something rooted in love, healing, and purpose. We wanted to share the comfort we found in a perfect cup of coffee. We teamed up with professional Canadian roasters to craft something truly special. We source premium, ethically picked beans from around the world and have them roasted in small batches in Barrie, Ontario. This local, small-batch approach is our commitment to freshness and quality. Our expertise lies in blending these exceptional beans to create profiles that are smooth, vibrant, and free from bitterness, such as our popular Dark Roast.

At the center of everything is Mavis, our wildly lovable pug. She has been our emotional support companion since 2017. Mavis is the inspiration and the mascot for Pug Cafe; she's a little messy, full of personality, and endlessly comforting. She reminds us that connection comes in many forms, and simple, authentic love is the best foundation for a meaningful life.
